The 2014 Show Review
Show attendance by the
public was slightly less than
for 2013, however, we still had
1230 members of the public
visit during the 2 days of the
show.  118 Carvers competed
in the carving competition with
224 carvings competing.  We
had 5 juniors, 22 novice, 48
intermediate and 118 open
skill level carvers competing.
The 2014 School Review
147 students took
advantage of the classes and
learned new techniques for
carving and woodburning.
One of our most popular
classes was the beginning
carver class taught by Tom
Sarff.  Many (almost all) of
his students signed up
during the show and just
before the class, which was
an excellent way to
introduce people to the art
of woodcarving.
More School News
Many of our Winter Texans took advantage of having
excellent instructors brought in locally for them to learn
from.  Desiree Hajny, Chris Hammack, and Tom Sarff
were first time instructors at our school this year.  Dallas
Deege returned with a new class on caricature
development.  Patty Rucker brought her class in clay
modeling back this year.  All of our instructors
complimented the other instructors such that every
student could learn something new. We thank all of our
instructors for their participation in our school.
Contrary to the information you might have heard,
there will be a school after the 2015 show.  Plan now to
take a class from another nationally known instructor.
