Seventh Coastal Bend Woodcarvers Show and School
By Phil Roets
The Coastal Bend Woodcarvers held their 7th Woodcarving Show on February 6 and 7, 2016 followed by 15 classes that varied in length from 1-5 days, from February 8-12,2016. The competition was judged by and the classes were taught by renowned carvers from the USA. The 8-day event was housed as before in the magnificent Aransas Pass Civic Center. Sarah Lee and her staff were great to work with and went out of their way to plan and support the Coastal Bend Woodcarvers to accomplish their goal of putting on another successful show and school.
During the first half of February, the small town of Aransas Pass, Texas, was invaded for the 7th time by woodcarvers from all over the country, especially the Midwest and Texas, to show other carvers their best work, because they compete with one another by participating in the carving competition and carving school. Many of the participants were repeat customers that have made the attendance of the show and school one of their highlights when they visit Texas in the winter.
This new website is one of the ways that we continuously strive to improve our services to the carving community. We have secured the services of Dee Halbrook, a fellow carver, but also a professional website developer and server. The webpages you are looking at is Dee’s creation and we are looking forward to have him provide up to date information to our club members and visitors. I thank you that you supported us in the past and know we will have greater things in store for you for the future.
